I caught this programme today and found it fascinating - I had never heard of algae being incorporated into the fabric of a house before! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00nw3rq/Material_World_19_11_2009/

sorry, I've just looked at v2.1 but I suspect these comments still apply. Well done on kicking this off and the work involved. What is the boundary of Forest Row Parish? I suspect I am outside it along with a number of others - then I don't get to...

Having read the letter we would apply under the 'second mover' applications? Gives a little more time and is less large capital intensive...? It would be good to run this past Fiona sustainability officer at Wealden and also the PC and Nick Lamb ...

Hi Rowena, I appreciate that you want to get the most out of the holiday, so I'll leave you to it!

I'm now out working for about 6 weeks, so it will not be until August that my feet touch the ground.

Am meeting Elizabeth Rimington soon and slowly getting a feel for things.

Have a great June!

Graham

Hi Rowena, I am interested in finding out more about the local politics of Forest Row and surrounding areas. Would you be up for meeting for a chat at some point over the next few weeks?

the names of who pops up on the left hand of the page it seems to me is random and a function of when you post something. Not something I have any control over.

Hello Rowena

You may remember myself and husband Graham as two of the rather dishevelled looking characters who managed to sneak their way among the 'Forest Row activists' at the Ashdown Forest press event some time ago.

Well, Graham and I are finally moving down to the Forest Row area (from Godalming, also a transition town, though more recently than Forest Row) at the end of the month (February).

I am keen to find myself a job in the area (I am a former magazine editor, journalist, writer and to a degree, PR specialist). Also a therapist and group facilitator, though the editorial skills are probably more in demand in our current climate (though you never know).

I was just writing in the hope that you might have some ideas about who I might connect with to help me in my search (any ideas on publications, organisations, relevant people etc would be much appreciated).

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Very best and hoping to see you again soon.

Hi Rowena,

Thanks Rowena. Maybe people wouldn't have recognised me without the red glow on forehead and blue chin!

About Me:
I live just north of Ashurst Wood near Hammerwood and have been involved with Transition Forest Row since Mike G held a 'Changing worlds' day way back in March 07. I was Wealden District Councillor for Forest Row 2004-2007 and am still very interested in politics, local democracy and what happens around here. This year I have joined the school Council at Michael Hall as an independent. I have 2 daughters and a husband Sean who is a naval barrister. In past years I have worked as a management consultant in change and network industries and as a primary school teacher.
A long time supporter of Tablehurst farm and small scale chicken keeper myself (very small, only 2 girls!), I am hoping to embark in Autumn 08 on a local food directory with Juliet in the Transition food group.
I am currently reading 'The last food of England' which I bought on a recent trip to the Weald and Downland Open Air museum - highly recommend it! Let me know if you would like to borrow it...

Natural Swimming Pond

Last year we finally got around to building a natural swimming pond -literally that, the water is cleaned by the plants within, wildlife is encouraged (except fish and birds - they have to enjoy the adjacent
fish pond!). As it was only completed last September, we have only swum in it the once, though the children did try last weekend but it was rather cold.... but it is just wonderful.

This week in the sunshine I counted 26 frogs/ toads in the bottom of the deeper swimming area going about the… Continue
